Hi, can anyone help? I've taken the wall down between our kitchen/dining room and we're having thewhole room tiled. The tiler has been in this morning and screeded the old dining room part (previously carpeted - new tiles going on top of old in kitchen. My problem is that the tiler has got screed all over the skirting boards :( . Can anyone tell me how easy/difficult this is going to be to get off and how?! By the time I can get to the skirting, everything's going to have cured, so i'm thinking it's going to be difficult...

I would have thought as the tiler put it there in the first place ,it would be down to him to take it of

If he doesnt dont pay him.. well or at least deduct the cost of removing it from his money

when you say screed do you mean grout ?

if its just a hazy sheen it will sponge off painted skirting ....

Hi Moz, no, it's the screed that he's used to bring the floor up to the level of the tiled area in what was the kitchen 'room'. He's back on Wednesday to tile and he's said he'll be able to get rid of it. I was hoping to get rid of it before then so that I could get a couple of coats of gloss on the skirting prior to the tiles going down, though. Any ideas?! :)

as you are going to paint it ,a scrapper and glasspaper might do it

You don't want to paint before tiling - paint when he's finished.

Yer right there  I thought the tiler had done his job and left a mess, anyway give the poor old tiler a chance to finish his job and paint the skirting after he has gone ,I wouldn't give him the added problem of newly painted skirtings

Okay, guys, that's what I'll do. Just wanted to avoid the risk of getting any gloss on the very expensive tiles and also, I thought it would look better not to have the gloss running up to the tiles. Thanks for all your help, everyone. :)

Masking tape is fine, but i've never yet found one that gives a good enough seal to avoid bleeding. I just know that I'm going to end up scraping gloss off the tiles and that's what I wanted to avoid! ;)
