Hello...I'm a newbie to floor tiling - and this weblog. My husband and I just installed beautiful ceramic tiles in our new entry foyer. We labored over the design, interspersed matching mosaic tile throughout the pattern, and were delighted with the entire effect. Then we grouted. Aargh! We thought we had followed the directions to the letter, alas, I guess I wasn't thorough enough with my cleaning and removal technique because now the sandy grout we used has settled into the crevices in many of the tiles. The tile is glazed, but it has a texture of indentations and grooves and scarmarks to make it look sort of like the old limestone floors you see all over Southern Europe. I am losing my mind...I have spent three entire days going over each tile individually with a sponge and water, (rinsing copiously), then I used a nailbrush with soapy hot water to no avail. I trekked to the local home store and bought a product designed to take care of the excess grout and haze (TileLab Grout Haze Remover)....applied it....then even used a dental pick on each pit. Nothing is working! I am so gutted! Can anybody out there in DIY land give me any more ideas? Or am I making a mountain out of a molehill? Will it eventually wear off? Should we even think about applying sealant until we get the haze off? Help!
