Hi all,

Our BoilerMate III started buzzing on/off yesterday.

we still have hot water and the heating works but the buzzing is doing two things:

- Driving us insane!
- Is it safe to leave it on despite the

I replaced the pump speed control PCB today as that’s where the buzzing sounds like it was coming from, but the replacement PCB made no difference and the buzz (with a brief pause between buzzed) has continued.

Does anyone know what needs to be done, and is it safe for the boiler to be left on?

Thank you in advance

What codes is it showing ?will be on the display might be in two sections I.E two digit display then another two digit display

It’s analogue. Lights, timer control and 3 x PCB’s.

Gledhill BoilerMate boilers are meant to be “an art” ...

Replace the other board. The buzz always comes from one of the PCBs and it can be hard to tell which one.

What is the bottom board for? Middle one that was replaced was “pump control speed PCB”

That controls the boiler/getting store up to temp and the heating itself. The one you replaced is for hot water demand.

The way to usually tell which board is to hold something like a pencil on it and see if it vibrates. Going by sound alone is difficult.

Odd, without hearing the sound I couldn’t really say but buzzing on these are usually caused by a capacitor shorting on one of the boards. If it’s a different ‘buzz’ I can’t really help

Buzzes for a second ... pause for a second ... buzzes for a second

this is continuous.

removing the control cover makes the buzz a a little louder to hear. Have replaced the middle PCB without curing it so I’ll order a replacement bottom one and see what happens

I do like that idea, just not yet.

anyone able to offer help?
They are quite good. When they also do the heating they are very good. All rads can have TRVs on them when using a smart pump. High pressure showers as well. Those who say scrap them do not understand them.

After replacing both PCB’s it’s now more evident the hot water pump is causing the buzzing :(

Can this be left until lockdown is over, or do we need immediate repairs?

Our local BoilerMate expert is very busy :(
