glenhill boilermate 2 no hot water

been replacing the old boilermate system with a new combi drained down heating side anyway refilled thinking i could leave them with hot water via the immersion but still no hot water not having come accross one of these before am i doing somthing wrong

IIRC the boilermate 2 needs the system side filled for hot water, the immersion will be heating nothing but air once you drain the heating.
 
boilermates normally run on what used to be called economy 7, dont know what its called now but the bottom immersion wont come on till midnight? and the top will heat up the top half of the tank but you cant use it because the sensor wont turn on the pump because it cant sense the hot water above it! if its all switched on they will have hot water tomorrow morning.

Boilermates run in reverse, the water contained within the cylinder is C/H water, held at about 80ºC, water for the taps is heated by passing through the heat exchanger on the side. As has been suggested it'll take quite a while to encourage hot water out of them with no boiler attached, it's unlikely that the immersions will really get the cylinder of C/H water hot enough in any reasonable length of time.
