Not long since moved into this house so trying to do most of the work myself and with the help from this forum ..Great forum by the way..

Now one of the rooms looks like it's been painted in black gloss on two walls. The walls are not flaky or anything but could do with a skim..

Now would i get away with scoring the walls and applying neat pva before plastering or would you use WBA from wickes instead of pva ?

Whats the best way for a better out come ..thanks

I would use gypsum bond-it after preping the wall. Get all the loose of and give the wall a good sand down with a course medium.

Thanks for the quick reply...is the wickes stuff wba not much good ??only had some stuff to take back so could get this while i am there as they don't seem to have any bond it.

I've never use it but others on here have and say it's good. It's cheaper than bond-it also.

Just back with the WBA from wickes ..it says on the tub to "allow 2-4 hours for drying " .would it be ok to apply it today and then plaster tomorrow as i want to key the area and take out some skirting today so would prefer to plaster it tomorrow .. If this is ok will i need to add any-think else to the walls other than the WBA before i plaster it ?

Thanks

Just keep to the 24 hour. you won't need to add anything else but I would wash down the wall, sugar soap works well. Before you apply the WBA that is.
