Hi, hoping to get some help with this. have a glow worm 15 hxi bolier, controlled by a drayton dual channel programmer, when the programmer calls for hot water the boiler fires up and all is good. when the programmer calls for central heating, the boiler will not fire up. I have checked voltage in and out of programmer and all is ok, the thermostat is working and has voltage also. There are no fault codes showing just a temp. thought I had found the problem, with a sheared shaft on the 3 port valve, I have this morning replaced the 3 port valve and controller. but still have same problem with boiler not firing up with central heating is called for?

Any ideas or information would be greatly appreciated .

Does the valve move to mid position if both heating and water are called for?

When you call for CH do you get 240v(ish) on the white wire to the valve?

Well fortunetly for you its not the boiler so possibly we can help.

The boiler will not fire for heating only untill the 3port moves into the heating position and sends a signal to tell the boiler to go.

depends on how confident you are with electrics and if you own a multi meter, the first place to start would be the wiring to the 3 port valve when you have heating only selected and room stat up, we would need to know what voltages your getting between neutral and the coloured wires feeding the 3 port.

be aware that regardless of your heating or hot water being on or off there may well still be permanantly live wires in the junction box/heating wiring center so do take care

this might help

thanks again for the replies ,
no volts on orange wire
no volts on white wire
240 volts on grey wire

thank you

Yuore not getting power from the room stat, its either faulty or there is a problem with the actual wiring

Check the wire going to room stat, should be mains voltage.

As a temporary solution for the weekend you could bypass the thermostat if it is at fault [ as long as you connect the right wires! ]
