Glowworm 18HXi - not again!!

Hi all.

i was having problems with this boiler constantly faulting on F1. Electrode was replaced which appeared to have sorted it short term. Still get occasional F1. (has also shown F4 and F13)

However, this morning was met with F5. Whatever, i do i cant get it to start. I reset the boiler and within seconds its straight to F5.

Any ideas and help....

It also sounds like you have a pcb problem F13 or that could be a faulty thermistor causing both problems

it has a resettable OH stat within the combustion chamber RGI job I owuld have said , as if its not reset it wont matter how cool the system is it will go to F5.

Thats what i was thinking. Can't be overheating as its going straight to F5 every time.

I cant get hold of anyone and the glowworm number is on answerphone. Just wondered if anyone had any advice on getting it going in the meantime.

I wont touch anything that has a gas valve, burner, or fan attatched to it.

Why put a reset button behind the metal cover panel ?????

so heating engineers can make a nice profit for a minor job that you need to be corgi reg to legally repair.

so that a competant person can investigate the reasons for the overheating rather than you just keep pressing the button and possibly causing more damage

Well it does have one

This is a discontinued Vaillant Ecomax Pro.

The overheat stat is top left behind the inner front panel. A little red button.

Only 2 screws hold this panel on then you lift forward and up to remove.

Reset the stat and check whether your pump is set to 3 or maximum and that it is working correctly.

The Vaillant version had a problem with needing a fast flow through it otherwise it could lock out for no serious reason.

Replace inner front cover and try again. This cover is easily re-fitted and self sealing and you do not have to touch any gas parts.
