Can conventional drill bits be used in and sds drill as I have loads?

(a) Grease the blunt end of the bit and insert it in the chuck; twist or pull the collar to allow the bit to seat in the chuck. Perhaps your drill came with a manual which explains how to go about this.

(b) You can use plain bits in your drill if you can change the chuck. But if you're planning to use your existing masonry bits in the drill, there won't be much point in doing this as you'll have to turn the hammer off.

a standard masonry dril bit can not be fitted to an sds receiver.

standard metal bits can be used via a chuck adaptor.
