Grant Vortex PCB or something else

Hi all
Moved into our new house 2 days ago a we've got a broken grant vortex boiler.. there is power to it (power switch led is lit) but no other indicator lights on the panel. Checked all the reset buttons. Had a look at PCB. The fuse is fine and no sign of black on it... Just one tiny microchip has a small hole in it so maybe that's blown? I just wanted to ask for your thoughts as everyone is cold and dirty if there was anything else to check! Thanks!

post pics of external controls etc, just because it has power, if the external controls are not calling it wont come on

Just one tiny microchip has a small hole in it so maybe that's blown?

...and if you post a pic of the damaged chip/PCB, we may be able to let you know if it's critical!

Have you checked for a programmer and a room stat.

yes - it's calling for heat

Having first checked neutral and live are to terminals 2 & 3 put select switches to constant you should have live feed to 17 hot water 19 heating .
That boiler can blow boards almost always caused by careless venting of heating pump .
We use heating World of spares for replacements model dependent around £80 plus vat.
No need to wire pressure sensor back in just link out
Later boilers don't have them we remove them totally.

I'm afraid that has let out the magic smoke

Looking at a listing for the same PCB, that chip is the main part of the PSU circuit - probably a switching regulator...

Unless you know someone handy at soldering, it may be new PCB time.

...there is also the possibility that some other fault in the boiler caused the power supply issue - it would be prudent to check before installing a new PCB.

Looks quite a new Vortex so could be under Grant warranty if a boiler fault. There have been issues with PCBs on newer grants having replaced a few now under warranty so worth checking with them.
