Grease for mixer tap

Hi

I’ve taken my mixer tap apart to repair a seal, what grease can I use. At the moment its full of a grey black grease

I did fix it years ago but I not sure what grease I used (if any) but would this cause a problem (e.g Toxic) as I didn’t realise that you could get grease for taps!

Vaseline would fit the non-toxic requirement...

If I did use any grease it was probably carlube LM2 grease as that's the tube I have have!

I've noticed Toolstation and Screwfix sell 57g of plumbers grease

I presume that the grease shouldn't get past the seal and contaminate the water, as the tap would leak?
