Please help. The emulsion in the kitchen above cooker is pealing off and new emulsion will not adhere due to grease accumulating over time. Any suggestions for treating the ceiling prior to re-emulsioning. Sugar soap any good?

I use Ammonia sometimes on really greasy areas. It cuts through grease without 2 much elbowin. Just a couple of tablespoons in a couple of ltrs of cold water will do. Try it on top of greasy kitchen cabinets! But use your marrigolds and open window ffs if you try it. good luck.
Ammonia!!
Sudden, huge nostalgia kick.
It used to sit on a shelf high up in the kitchen in a ridged glass bottle with a white label with red and blue writing. I don't remember it ever being used though.

Think you'l find it's in most houseold cleaners. If you take out ammonia from em they'll be even more hopeless. My prob is can't get enough of it nowadays. (ammonia) I have to use use Boots houseold ammonia. Used to be able to get it in large bottles from decorator sundries merchants but they give you a funny look nowadays.
