Hi

I have the below timer installed as immersion heater for over 2 yrs with no problems until today.

The timer is displaying time and can be operated but when I change it to power on it just clicks and led does not light not switching on.

Anyone any experience of this.

Thanks

Are you away from 'home' for appreciable periods of time such that remote switching would be worthwhile/necessary?

Kind Regards, John
This was also my thoughts, OK with the Willis immersion heater time is important, but any other system water says hot a long time, even without extra lagging ours stays warm for 2 days, with a well lagged cistern looking at double that, so no point in any smartphone app control unless away from home for over 24 hours at a time.

The Irish it seems have cracked it with the Willis system, where it heats from top of cylinder down, so you get hot water fast, and time on controls how much heated, so in that case yes controlled time would help never used a Willis system I am Welsh we have not worked it out yet, but I have got geofencing on the central heating, and to be frank it has gone wrong, and I found it switched to Eco when still at home.

I have not gone away and checked if the heating has turned off, but have had the heating have a mind of its own and change the schedule, and ended up turning the learning function off. I have also forgotten to turn things off, we get use to automation, number of times found cooker switched on, it does not actually heat up as no pan, and will lock out, but that is not the case in the caravan and we get use to automation.

Exactly. With mine (admittedly a very well lagged cylinder), I have the immersion "on" for 2-3 hours per day (with a timer) and that provides hot water for 24h.

As we've both said/implied, the ability to switch the immersion on remotely is only likely to be helpful if one is away from home for a significant period of time (days) and wants to be able to switch the immersion on two or three hours before returning home. However, even that is a bit of a (some would say 'unnecessary') luxury, since even if one returns home to a cold HW cylinder, it only takes a very small amount of time to heat up a useful amount of water after switching the immersion on.
The Irish it seems have cracked it with the Willis system ....
I'm going to reply to this in a new thread.

Kind Regards, John
