Greenstar 24i system boiler filling

Hello Everyone,

Just moved to a new house and I can see here an unvented system with a water tank on the first floor and Worcester Greenstar 24i System boiler downstairs.

I cannot locate the filling in loop anywhere.
And actually same goes for any motorised valve. Any ideas?

Why do you need the filling loop? The boiler has pressure. The cylinder appears it might be a direct cylinder. Do you have anything else? Check the boiler in case there’s an internal filling loop key. Also out the cover back on as it forms part of the combustion circuit and should be checked for safety afterwards.

1. why :: I want to change a few pipes around the radiator and therefore need to remove water from that circuit. I can see 4 outlets outdoors on the wall, i am only guessing here but one for water in radiators, one for water in the tank, one for water in the spiral with hot water that goes from boiler to the tank... fourth one? no clue.
long story short. i dont want to get the water out before knowing how to refill the system

2. direct :: do you think? I am not sure to be honest. By the part number it says indirect with an electric heater boost function. Why do you think it is direct though?

3. do I have anything else :: no that I can see anywhere. I would imagine there should be a motorised valve somewhere but cannot see it anywhere either ..

any suggestions?

Have a look or take a photo of right hand side of the cylinder cupboardfor the motorised valve, my bad, it is indirect. The boiler has flow, return, gas and prv - which I’m sure can’t be done in pushfit.

is the valve that Santon? it doesn't seem like connected to any electricity.

I am still struggling to understand how to refill the water back to the system when I drain it. Any ideas?
You mentioned the pushfit to PRV, is this where normally the flexible pipe with valve should be to top the pressure up?

No, the PRV is the pressure relief valve and has been connected under the boiler using plastic pipe (the right hand side looking at it). The motorised valve(s) must be somewhere else. No signs of filling loop in that cupboard, did you check under the boiler as I mentioned in post #2?

I checked under the boiler yes. but maybe im not seeing it. attached are a few photos

No, it’s not there. What’s the other side of the boiler, as the pipes enter the wall?

it's the garage. Brick wall nothing sticks out. it must be entering behind the plasterboard and going up.
let me check behind plinths in the bathroom upstairs. who knows..

One additional thing i noticed when the boiler was without the cover. Some online videos were showing motorised valve there, next to the direct drain out. Mine is not motorised. Regardless of hot water or heating set it stays in same position. Does that tell you anything more about the system I have?

I haven't said it yet but whenever hot water is being heated up the pipes decide to be loud AF. knocking like if they want to leave the wall. .. no clue why. i thought maybe that motorised valve somewhere is F'ed, but it is nowhere to be seen so far.

It could be inside the boiler, but that’s usually a diverter valve, and you also have a loose connection dangling down. If the pipes are screaming and banging it could be an air lock, a blockage et al.

nothing under plinth upstairs.

I'm having some additional thoughts. @CBW maybe you can let me know if I am on the right track.
Possible therr is no motorised valve? both radiators and tank would heat up in the same time, right?

also, by the tank there is a large directional valve. I am wondering if it is not the filling valve. see photo (it would however be difficult to look at the boiler's pressure downstairs while being next to a tank).

Does the cylinder sit on a platform inside that cupboard? If there is then the valves may be in the void under the cylinder.

Can you give us the GC number (GCxx-xxx-xx) - should be on the sticker where the boiler type is marked on the inside of the drop panel perhaps.

As suggested, please don't take the cover off the boiler - that isn't DIY territory - and really needs to be checked by someone that can test the boiler combustion now.

It may be an idea to get a CH bod in, that is both Gas Safe and unvented cylinder qualified just to give your system the once over and can identify all the controls and connections for you.

No, that’s not the filling loop, just a stopcock

Boiler in a kitchen?

Look for a filling loop adjacent to and below the boiler, probably at the back of a unit nearby, possibly behind a removeable panel.
