I have a grill element which has hardy had any use.

3 years old I guess

It’s tripping the 30ma RCD.

M guessing it’s taken on moistute will all the rain and cold.

What should I do?

1 Remove element and stick it in an oven to dry it out?

2 try and run it off a 100ma RCD and see if it will dry itself out. Or will that do damage to itself.

3 disconnect the element earth and dry itself out

Obviously 2 and 3 I would reverse.

Once the seal is damaged on a mineral insulated element, drying it out using any method is rather pointless, as it will just absorb moisture again. New element is the only way to go.

Checked and found it has a 5 Yr warranty.
Booked them to come out , over online chat. (Probably took 1 hour)

Retested it and it’s working ok now. (Both elements).

Will retest every day,

P.s. element looked fine. One looked brand new. Only thing that is slightly rusty is where the element supports are.

Looks like you have to drag the cooker out to change element

On the Pyro/MI, which were similar, suffered similar problems, then the solution was to either cut the cable end back, or starting well away from the end - heat the cable up, and gradually move the heat to the end, driving moisture ahead of the heat - then finally seal it.

You cannot do that with an element, but I wouldn't discount just heating the element up, and making regular use of it, to help drive out, and keep out the moisture.
