I bought a couple of taps a few years back:
Grohe 32629 001 Concetto Basin Mixer High Spout PUW

I wanted to get the same again, but that seems to have been discontinued. I managed to find a similar tap with slightly different model number:
That's 32629002.
One digit difference, and looks similar, so I decided to go with it.

There was a long wait for delivery, (3 weeks, had to come from the manufacturer) but it finally arrived. Couple of things I noticed,

First: It pivots almost 180 degrees. Not the 90 degrees of the other taps. This is quite annoying, and I wondered if it could be faulty, or if there's some way to alter how far it goes. I noticed the old Concetto taps have a very hard stop at about 45 degrees either side and were dead symmetrical (exactly what I wanted), whereas this new one has a slightly soft feel when it reaches the stop, and it goes almost parallel to the sink when swung to the left, and about 20 degrees short when swung to the right.
So sure, I can live with it, but it's a pretty significant drop in quality, and these are not cheap taps.

The other thing I wasn't sure about is that it comes with two O-rings. I phoned up Grohe about this but they were completely unhelpful, just latched on to the fact I was confusing the waste outlet ring with the ring between tap and basin (I was not), were borderline rude and even side-tracked by saying I didn't really need an O-ring at all it was just to protect my basin. They were unable to explain why I had two different O-rings, they were unable to tell me what size the O-ring was supposed to be. It was all a bit crap because I thought that's exactly the kind of thing tech help is supposed to be for, instead they just said it didn't say in the diagram. Yeah right, I can read the flaming diagram it's right in front of me why do you think I'm calling? Anyhow, I never had this issue with the last set of taps and didn't remember getting confused about O-rings. To be clear, there are two black O-rings in the plastic bag with the clamp and tightening nut, one 2mm thick, one 3mm thick. Only one seems to be detailed in the drawing. The other (thicker) rubber ring for the waste is in another plastic bag with the waste bits.

Thanks for any help!

I forgot to put the rubber O ring between the underside of the tap and the sink, and it made no difference.

I think it depends how messy you are, if there's lots of splashes into that area it may drip through. Depends what's below. Eventually I used the smaller ring, and added silicon sealant. Mainly because tightening the nut kept pushing it over to the left. So I put silicon, then the ring, then shaped it and cleaned it up a bit, then let it dry. The dots helped me figure out if the tap was in the right place (I removed them with IPA later) then screwed down the tap. It's not the best job I've done but whatever.
