Hi I just installed a grohe start edge with pop up waste tap to my bathroom sink..weird thing is when you tighten the under the sink drain section to the top the pull bar has to pointing towards the back of the sink so you can operate the pull bar mechanism, however , when I tighten the bottom section the top the pull bar is pointing towards the side of the sink ? Only here do I get a firm connection , untightning it to point the pull bar connection towards the back of the sink gives me a not so tight connection...weird that..see pic of what I mean.

It's a knack/feel thing. As above tighten from the top - sometimes get a tool with the waste to slot into the top and tighten that. Alternatively you need to sit the top section at the correct point to ensure that when the base section if fully tightened the orientation is correct. Mark the position of the top section and tighten it and see where it ends up, then loosen and move the top section clockwise until the bottom section ends up at the right spot. Might take a few tries and a final tighten with a pair of grips to get it to line up.
