Following on from one of my previous posts regarding my garden project, one idea I've been toying with is a sunken hot tub.
The above image shows my garden in its current state. Beneath the trees, I'm considering putting a decked area sheltered section towards the back corner enclosing a hot tub.
Something similar to what has been done in this post...

In order to maximise the space in the garden, I thought that it may be possible to sink the hot tub into the ground, slightly below the potential decking level, with a decking "lid" covering the hot tub during the winter months - allowing full use of the decking.
This may be a really, really stupid idea but can anyone see any potential problems with this idea?
Thanks in advance.
