I've regrouted certain sections of my kitchen several times....behind the sink and around the splashback by the hob. After a few weeks it starts going mucky again despite cleaning. Is there a better quality grout that is resistant to, presumably water and cooking "smell" stains ?

Sorry....yes, gcol.

Looked at it last night and was tempted to advise the wife to clean more regularly...but then thought better of it.....

I have a nifty little tool that fits in my Dremel and does a great job but its still tiresome. I know grout is porous and I'm probably hoping for the Holy Grail.

I suspect this is a common problem and cleaning more regularly is the cure...but I live in hope of a stain resistant grout ?

white grout is not easy to keep clean, im assuming you ve bought cheap white grout from bee and queue or similar outlets, i would go to a tile store and purchase some bal / howtex white grout, then also sk the very unattractive assistant for some grout sealant, there are a few kinds the spray i personally use is ideal, you grout clean then spray, no messing, its not 100% perfect but is better than getting the dremel out every month

Ah...that tile shop.....

I'll give that ago..thanks....and buy the wife some more bleach.....for the grout...not hair.....

Thanks

Dettol Mould & Mildew Remover Trigger comes in a green bottle, and is super strong bleach.

it even takes the black out the silicone...

Well impressive stuff. Seriously double the strength of normal bleach and stinks the place out for a while, but works v.well.

The best advice I can give you is to not use white grout at all - I won't have the stuff in my house. For ease, the way forward is to say, "I'm having grey grout.... now what tiles will go with that?"

Thats interesting. I've actually used grey grout in my on suite and a ochre coloured grout in my bathroom. Both with predominately white tiles...looks really good so I'm a fan.

Tempted to rip the tiles off in the kitchen and redo.......I love tiling anyway....now to tell the wife.....
