I have found someone with very good reviews online and operating a good number of years who is offering to do a scratch coat & sand/cement render over the pebbledash on my house.

Ive asked if there is a warranty they give for the work but they have said that they dont do written guarantees for rendering.

I kind of understand it with it being difficult to legislate for a buildings movement but I just wanted to see if this is standard or if most companies would offer a guarantee and for how long.

To add, the pebbledash is rock solid, no blows or cracks.

he should give some sort of guarantee.
but it’s totally understandable why he doesn’t want to .
what sort of house is it?

Thanks for reply its a 1930's semi-detached in London.

with the reviews they have, you would think that they would feel confident giving out a 5 or 10 year guarantee so I'm a little bemused.

I really want to use them to do the front, then when we sell the property I can pass on their details to the new owners if they want to get the remainder done.

no plasterer will give you a guarantee on something that could go badly wrong.

If you found the plasterer via an online site and they can start quite soon :eek::eek::eek:

I dont think they were desperate for the work and it was 4 weeks lead time before they had a gap. There is always a risk unless you know them & their work but sometimes you just have to go on online reviews if you dont and they have great reviews across a couple of different sites and google too. Appreciate its not foolproof but what else can you do...

fair enough, i realise there is a risk but I guess any works has the potential to go badly wrong, you just want a company you know would try to do their best to help you should issues arise.
