Gurgling Kitchen U-Ben

Hi,

Just moved house and the u bend in the kitchen gurgles when the kitchen tap is drained, the dishwasher and washing machine is draining as well.

I have taken the u bend off and no blockages.

It seems that there is water in the u bend and that it isn't being cleared enough making a gurgling noise.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Does it drain well enough? If so then it sounds like it's doing it's job. It'll be water velocity noise through the pipework drawing air down the pipe I would think. You could change the trap to an anti-syphon bottle trap and that may lessen the noise.

There will always be water in the U-Bend, that's the water seal that stops foul sewer air traveling back up through the waste pipe and into your house
