Hi
I'm just about to decorate my hallway which will include replacing the old laminate flooring which is a little warped and tired with this being a high traffic area.

The Mrs wants a solid wood floor however I'm concerned about the potential damage that will be inflicted on this from dirt and wet shoes etc.

Someone has suggested I try wood effect ceramic tiles and was after some feedback on this type of tile regarding how realistic it looks after lying and how easy it is to lay.

Any feedback is appreciated

whats underneath the laminate?
have you thought about installing a mat well then the solid floor?

Its concrete below the current floor, not sure if it has a damp proof mat, I was more concerned with the damage to the wood itself from traffic

A decent solid wood floor will withstand traffic as well as anything. You can of course sand and restain too (many times assuming its proper solid wood). It should last a lifetime.

I wouldn't bother with engineered wood floors (top layer) tho, can't see the point.
