Halogen for led

We have 6 35W GU10 halogen lights in our kitchen, I want to swich to led bulbs because they blow all the time. Can we just do a straight swop for the relevant led bulb or do we need to buy the proper led fittings.

I was told you could by the guy in the shop but this seemed strange seen as the led fittings are a lot more expensive to buy than halogen ones. whats the difference between the fittings?

No difference. I have B&Q 230v GU10 lamps in my kitchen, they are fantastic. I have the 3 led 3w ones. My mother also has them in her kitchen and her bathroom. The beam is quite concentrated, but as long as you have some task lighting this shouldnt be a problem.

Indeed they are.

And the good ones which actually put out a lot of light are very expensive.

When you are next decorating you should take the opportunity to change the lighting to something more sensible than 6 2" torches recessed into the ceiling.

expect to pay £15+ for something worth having, and be careful of 7W ones, these are usually too long.
5W ish are usually the right size.
