Hello

Not sure if this is the correct forum, but anyone got any ideas or general pointers.

I have a Halstead Ace High boiler, which for the past 7-8 years has been okay. We replaced the diaphragm a few years back and it was serviced by an engineer (who specialises in Halsteds 3 months ago).
Diagnostics:
We initially had an issue where we would get no hot water on a consistent basis. We could turn the tap on the hot water and it would be fine and would run until the tap was turned off. If we turned the hot water on again minutes later it was just cold. It could run cold for hours and then later in the day it would run hot again.
The heating at this point was unaffected and would come on as per the timer.
We had British Gas out who replaced the Pressure Release Valve and also refilled the Expansion chamber.
However, we still have issues as the same fault occurs. However, now there is also no heating.
We only get heating or water when the boiler feels like it. There’s no pattern, it runs cold water and then sometimes the boiler fires up giving hot water.
I’ve also had the engineer round who serviced the boiler, but when he came, every time he fired up the boiler, we had scalding hot water, so couldn’t really diagnose the fault. He did tell me however, that all parts for the Halstead where still available, whereas Brit Gas told me it was now limited parts (coincidentally, I received a sales call for a new boiler as he left the house)..
Anyone got any ideas what this may be? Although they get bad press, it’s been a great Combi that’s caused us no issues at all, up until now.

cheers for the reply on this.

BG came back and diagnosed a faulty PCB, which has been replaced and now all 'appears' to be fine..
