halstead boiler start up problems

My halstead Hi ace boiler takes about half a minute to fire up when the tap is turned on then another thirty seconds for any hot water to come out. Any suggestions. Also could anyone recomend a decent engineer in the south tyneside area for to service my boiler, seen too many episodes of rogue traders on tv

does the heating work ok?

could just be a flow switch fault, possibly just a diaphragm.

can give you details how to check if you like.

yes rob the heating works ok on manual but I don't think the timer is working but I may be setting it wrong though

Timer won't affect HW,
Look inside at the transparent box, inside on the right. The pin should come out and operate the switch when you put the tap on.

got the timer working ok so heating is working fine

The boiler has stopped working all together now there is no hot water or heating at all

The light on the boiler is on lockout and when I reset it goes to power then heating then goes back to lockout ?

Right, well you have a couple of faults now, which may well be unrelated. There are many things which can cause a lockout. Quite likely to be an airflow problem but it sounds like you need a boiler engr.

Yes Chris got one in this morning from British Gas and he descaled something, don't actually know what it was because I was out at the time but my wife said he was there for an hour and a half.
