The DHW supply has had an intermittent fault, where the water would run cold after a while (especially if the demand was low) but it could usually be reset by turning the hot tap off and back on again.

The fault has now worsened and the burner will not fire up at all on DHW demand, however hot water is available if the CH is turned on at the same time.

Any ideas?

As suggested its most likely to be the diverter valve failed but there are several possibilities apart from the diaphragm unit although thats the most common.
