The ceiling in one bedroom started to crack and sag so i went up to the loft to have a look. The joists are all set into the walls at one end and resting on the top of the wall opposite....except the 3 which run up to the chimney- they are sitting on top of the wall at one side but are hanging in mid air at the other end all thats holding them up is a tiny batten which runs between a joist on either side and then across the hanging ones. The worst thing is these 3 joists are holding up the water tank
I'm thinking of running a 2" timber along the properly supported joists across the bad ones and hanging the 3 on joist hangers...
sound reasonable? any other suggestions?
Thanks.
