Seems Spain is now saying No as well as Malta and Italy.

The rescue of these migrants is ok but why not take them back to their point of depature ? Not many women or children are seen.........and the fact that they're all wearing life jackets seems to suggest that their departure from Africa isn't a chaotic event otherwise they wouldn't have life jackets .......so there obviously a retail setup going on .......obtaining them and selling them .......

I totally understand why everyone in Africa must see the EU as paradise compared with life in Africa when they observe it on their smartphones on the net......... what's the answer ? A welcome to the African population in to Europe ? It's a big big problem.

Well since Europe plundered Africa for centuries, maybe more investment there?
(And now we apparently need new 'trade deals' in the UK, a good business option too)

Instead of course we get calls for reducing foreign aid in order to 'spend it at home'.
(Ironically mainly from those who have forced the need for said new 'trade deals' upon us)

And the rise of the 'right' in Europe just exasperates the problem.
Because you can put up as many barriers as you like, but when people have no hope they will try to get in regardless!

What a strange observation.

Many a crook has been making a small fortune in this people smuggling refugee racket - including people making and selling fake life jackets to those trying to get away from their home country. I don't see how having a life jacket means their departure isn't chaotic and the whole journey isn't life-threatening.

Yep, europe took everything, they have no resources left , no oil, no gold, no diamonds, no minerals, totally raped.
Who said they 'took everything'?
Putting words into another person's mouth merely makes you look quite stupid!

But maybe you would like to explain to us why the resources of Africa are still controlled by global corporates?
Corporates mainly in Western hands, and (latterly) with a Chinese input.

The continent of Africa has been for a long time (and continues to be) exploited...

To ignore that simple fact is a major contribution to the ignorance surrounding the reason behind migration!

By corrupt African leaders. Europe used Africa, but left it capable of running along nicely. Its only greed from local dictators that has held some of Africa back. Zimbabwe is a good example.Your post made out that europe had left Africa desolate & hopeless.

Gaddafi said this would happen when he fell but it didnt stop Sarkozy and Cameron in their idiotic regime change - we got exactly what anyone with a brain was saying - a failed state. libya is a transit point for refugees, economic migrants, people traffickers.

We can round them up in boats but the solution lies in Africa not europe.

These migrants need to be processed and then returned back to Africa - that is the humane response. Treat them with humanity but make it clear this is not the right way to emigrate into Europe.

Unfortunately corruption works well for us as we let them dump their ill gotten gains in London.

The issue is that the NGO rescue vessels are effectively providing a free taxi service for the people smugglers. Unfortunately, their legal status under SOLAS regulation is questionable as their purpose is to rescue the migrants. So they aren't protected by the SOLAS regs in the same way a merchant ship might be.

It is this reason that the Ports are able to refuse entry.

Personally I think you encourage people to come if you provide them with an easier passage, if the policy was to return to port of origin then fewer would try. For the most part they aren't refugees.

It's corruption by anyone with a badge.
When was the last time you were asked for a bribe by a rozzer, planning officer, council employee, etc etc?
At least I only get rinsed through my paye!

Whether or not independent ships and/or navy/coast guard logistics are involved is irrelevant.

Or would you rather desperate human beings drowned?

Yes or no.

I do not see how the free taxi service can be disputed.

The previous report stated that the ship 'rescued' the migrants "off the Libyan coast" and then because Italy and Malta refused landing, they were taken to Spain.

It does beg the question "Why were they not taken to Libya?".
