I bought a length of the above from TP to replace the rotten one on my back door.

Will I need to treat it with any preservative or can I just primer - undercoat - gloss?

I assume this is best fixed by drilling, screwing and filling?

sounds like you have it covered except, you need to drill, GLUE, screw and fill.

'tis wood, treat it so. primer, preservative, sadolin, whichever. ultimately, are you going to paint or stain the product?

Will be gloss painted with exterior gloss.
