Hi
Need a bit of advice.
A UPVC company have just built me a square bay on my bungalow
They have fitted a lead roof.
Today is the first day it has rained since fitting.
There is no guttering and the rain drops from the roof,( which appears to have no slope whatsoever) and drops onto the cills making one heck of a noise.

I find that the roof does not come out as far as the cill hence the fact the rain runs off the roof onto them.
Question is this common build practice of have they done something incorrect

Thanks in anticipation

Gutters on bays are a bit of an unnecessary eyesore, and there is no problem with allowing water to fall from the roof naturally

However where there are no gutters, the eaves projection should project enough to allow dripping water to miss the cill and the wall bellow. The idea is to throw the water clear of the building - for timber cills it would mean premature aging and early rot, for plastic, the problem you describe. It may also lead to damp(er) brickwork just below the cill, and associated efflorescence.

You may have a problem getting them to change the roof now, as it may require a complete new lead cover. But it really should be altered.

The alternative to to fit some gutter and a downpipe, and some drainage to take the water away from the building and avoiding a localised area of wet ground next to the building

thanks for the replies.

Would it be easier for them or me to reduce the cill depth.
Also although it is a flat roof, should it have a pitch.

P S I have not paid yet, so I have a little sway.
