I have just completed a very satisfying sanding of a 30+ year old floor - and am very happy with the result. Not having thought through the process very well - at this stage I thought all I needed to do was to wax polish the floor. Having checked this site for advice I think this may now be totally wrong. I am not to keen on adding any kind of varnish to the floor and would like to keep the clour as light as possible.
Any suggestions?

Thanks

Your idea of waxing ins't that bad, it just takes a few layers (4 - 6) to do so.
Other options would be to apply hardwaxoil (2 layers). Any material will make the wood 'darker' (make a piece of unfinsihed wood wet with water to 'test' the natural own colour of the wood), but hardwaxoil is 'neutral' i.e. no colour pigment added.
