Having the boiler in a living room, is that a bit weird?

Hello, I was wondering if putting a boiler in a living was more common than I realised. And if any of you have come across it.

In my case it would be in the corner just as you go into the kitchen and be in a cupboard so only the noise would be a clue that it was there.

Or is it just too weird an idea?

Seen it many times, just make sure there's plenty of room for servicing...I charge just the same rate as gas work for ripping out the cupboard (and manufacturers clearances are barely adequate).

I would not want my boiler in the living room, hidden in a cupboard or not. No normal living space should be used for the installation of a boiler, be it living room or bedroom, because of the noise when it fires up. It should be installed in a space where the noise makes little difference to the other uses of the room it is installed in. Mine is in the kitchen, where it is enclosed within a wall cupboard I made specially for the boiler. Once things are up to temperature, the boiler running is barely audible. Even at full chat, it is much quieter than the extract hood running on minimum, or the usual kitchen noises.

And how many back boilers were fitted over the years ?

In a cupboard most boilers today are barely audible and if there's no other place due to space or flue restrictions then so be it.
