Hi,
I am tiling a bathroom and have a fireplace inside of it.
The fireplace is a solid cast iron combination fireplace. It is a wood burning fire.
I need to know if I can tile up to and under the fireplace surround with ordinary tile such as porcelin.
In stores I see granite hearths being sold, and I am told that with woodburning fires it is better to use granite tiles- but do I have to use granite? It would be much better for me if everything matched.
PS I would be tiling into the base of the builders hearth so that everything looks uniform.
Thanks for replies from people who have had to deal with this.
