Hello all i need advice on the heating controls for our central heating.

The boiler and current heating controls were installed in 1992/93 ish (before we moved in). The boiler is an Ideal Classic (thats all it says on the front) and it's controlled by an ACL Lifestyle Model LP772 up in the airing cupboard. There are TRV's on all the radiators but i think they are knackered as they only work when on the highest setting and there is no room thermostat anywhere in the house.

Obviously, when the heating comes on the boiler just goes for it continuosly as the trv's on the radiators are all fully on and there is no stat anywhere telling it to calm down a bit.

So, can i get a stat to work with my current controller, if so i am assuming that this would have to be hard wired into the controller and not a remote control one?

Or would i be better off just to get the old ACL controller replaced with a new remote control thermostat and controller

Either way, am i looking at an expensive job or is it something straight forward?

Regards

Thanks for your reply.

I have been looking around and have seen several, but how would it work?

If the stat is in the hall, what is connected to the controller to tell it to do it's stuff?

And does it make a difference that the controller is at least 15 years old?

the transmitter is battery powered and detects the temperature.
this sends a signal to a receiver box which is hardwired into the boiler/programmer and tells the boiler to switch on/off
