Hi, not sure if I'm posting on the right place but I'm at my wits end here.

I just moved into a new flat and can't seem to get the heating to switch on. I am getting hot water though. I know absolutely nothing about boilers so don't want to go messing with it.

I switched the thermostat to manual and adjusted the temp to 25°c just see if it would work. The heating didn't come on and the boiler didn't come on either but the temp on the thermostat started to go up.

I've looked at the fuse box in the hall, I've got one switch that says central heating which is on and then two separate ones that are storage heaters and both are off.

The boiler is an Easi-Heat Plus 25Ci.

Open flap on boiler.
Should see two knobs. One for hot water temp and the other for radiator temp.
Probably see lights as well. Green is good and all working.

Post picture of boiler and controls may get you better advise if you can't see anything that could be a problem

As suggested - if the boiler runs and gives you hot water then the boiler should be ok. Pull up the front cover flap to get to the controls and check that the left hand CH knob is turned clockwise from the tap symbol to point towards the 3 white dots

Does it work ok now?
Hi sorry I was away and hadn't been over at the flat. I've tried what you suggested and it still isn't working. I also turned on the storage heater switches and still nothing.

Ah ok - its the Easi Heat CI - comes with the digital timer - Don't you have the manual, if not might be an idea to download a copy.

If I remember rightly you have to set the timer/programmer with the time, it can lose it if it's been off for a while. If it is already set (press mode) then you'll probably need to set the mode to always on. I presume there is also a receiver plugged into the boiler for the ESI programmable thermostat that's in your hand?

It may also be worth checking that the thermostat is correctly operating.

Do you have a receiver for the thermostat, that looks something like...

Pressing the manual button on the receiver should override the remote stat.
When the Manual button is green, pressing the MA button should toggle the heating on/off.

Instructions for the stat available here...

We found the receiver, the landlord has boxed in under the boiler to block the pipes so will need to come back tomorrow with a drill/screwdriver. Have tried to set the time on the boiler and it's still not working, will also bring batteries tomorrow for the thermostat

Try the new batteries before removing the boxing in, might save you time if that's all it is.
