Hi all,

I posted a while back but cant find post. Basically i asked for heating suggestions.

Anyway i would like if someone can run over my calcs and my choice of heating system i think im going to purchase.

To start this is a industrial unit.

Its is 32meters long
9 meters wide
Approx 8 meters high.

no windows but has two steel doors and a roller shutter that is around 8 sq'm in size. The roof is a pitched roof with no void but 75mm insulation (steel roof) Also the walls are brick but top half is insulated steel also. Im a middle unit so have someone either side of me (the 32meter long walls)

It also has a mez floor in one half but is open fronted.

I can only have a oil fired boiler.

im looking at buying -

1x 5000Kw Radiator (storage area that is stud wall)
3x Heater blowers 18kw each (water feed)
1x Worcester Greenstar Utility 70kw HE oil Boiler

Does the above combo sound like a good option and will the boiler and water/heater blows heat the place? am i over sized or undersized?

Many thanks

Do you have a crane on hand to lift the 5000 kW radiator?

If its weight was proportional to the small ones in my house then it would weigh about 50 tons!

Isn't it better to employ a heating engineer?

How is a 70 kW boiler going to feed 68 kW of hot air and a 5000 kW radiator?

a 2000 x 700 DC is 4kW... doubt it'll weigh 50 tonnes :p

But agree, this is not something for an internet forum. You need to pay someone with correct qualifications to come and spec this up.

I'd ask the neighbours what they're using and how they find it works for them.
Very different needs between say a truck MOT bay and a CAD office...

Sorry, typo.

I mean 5000w or 5KW Radiator depending on which way you want to read it.

So its a total 73kw of heaters with a boiler that produces 70KW. So my first choice of boiler is undersized by 3KW or 4% ? Or is there a percentage that is allowable? Im told that if a boiler is too big its not efficient either?

i dought all heaters will be asking maximum KW they can produce once the place is warm and also having TRV valves etc to help control temps in warehouse.

As for the other units, none of these are heated.

Last heating engineer company i had in at other place fitted a heater that could not get the temp above 10c in winter and managed to use £150 quid of Gas in 3 days. The unit next doors heating would cost the same per month but heat to a easy 20c.

Hence im asking on this forum for advice before i find someone to come in and quote , advice me etc. I would like to know what to be asking and if they are speaking crap as it seems the norm to speak a lot of crap if your are a plumber or sparky working in Birmingham. I would love to meet one that knows what they are doing as have plenty of work for them! (hence in first post asking if anyone would like the job to fit and supply.

thanks for the link.

We have decided not to go with this system as teh unit is split into 3 sections.

Thankyou tho.
