Heating system query

Hi,

I have a F&E tank in the loft and an expansion vessel in my airing cupboard.
Does this mean my heating system is open vented and the expansion vessel is for hot water only?

Possibly. What colour is the expansion vessel? What does the hot water cylinder look like?

Vessel is red, hot water cylinder looks similar to this one

A red vessel is for central heating, so it sounds like you have a pressurised heating system and a disused F&E

Oh right I was wondering what was going on, cheers.

The strange thing is I've drained a few rads over the years and have never had to manually top up the system, I can't even find a filling loop.
