hey, hope someone can help!

Have moved into an apartment in a newish build complex, not very clued up on all things plumbing and boiler related.

The flat has no gas, all electric.

We have in our airing closet a megaflow unit, it has no pressure gagues, a pressure relief valve and a 'cold' mains water input. On the wall is a set of 'on peak' and 'off peak' switches (on peak has an orange light on it).

Also no other kind of boiler units.

Now i get that the water is heated up over night using the off peak lower electricity rates, out of that we get two showers and a bowl of washing up or two.

when this runs out thats it, no hot water, I've switched the on peak on, still no hot water. I've left the on peak on for days on end, still only a limited amount of hot. I've tried the on peak on with the off peak off, same result.

I'm at a loss and its getting quite frustrating, is this normal for this kind of set up? or is there something wrong with the unit?

appreciate any help!

Thanks.

Oh and its also connected via plastic piping to a 'Vent-axia' unit which basically is a venting system for the entire apartment, not sure if that helps...

No instructions, already googled, heatrae have a megaflo brochure and install guide but unit looks different, maybe newer and couldn't find and useful info :s

Tried ringing landlord also but only have his work number so can't get hold of him untill Monday....

Picture?

Are there two cables going to the mega low? One from each switch.

You should have two fuse boxes, one for off peak, one normal one for your normal house electrics.

Have you checked to see the trip is on for the water heater?

Both fuses were not tripped, reset all just incase still no luck.

Do you have a multi meter?

Do you know how to use one?

Don't have one of those I'm afraid, but as the red light on the switch is on, I'm guessing the circuitry is good.

Just found a manual after more online searching, gone through the process of relieving the pressure, heard a gurgling sound and turned all back on, starting a warming up sound which I haven't heard from it before, so fingers crossed!!!

Will let you know.

It sounds as if one or both of your immersion elements is faulty or wrongly adjusted.

As I understand it your off peak works fine, yes?

We have a 120l cylinder and get a bath and a shower back to back.

Bearing in mind a immersion takes an age to heat a cylinder FULLY.

Maybe the stat is faulty in your on peak immersion, this is why you need a muliti meter.

Looks like pressure relief (safety pipework) is in plastic dont think this is permissable? Not a cause of your problem but something that one of the pros may comment on.

But I would say that you have an issue with one or both of your immersion elements. Could be that the peak one was faulty before your latest problem and now the E7 one has gone faulty you are left with nothing.

Thought as much, plastic piping doesn't even lock together properly! Will see what the 'pro' has to say next week

i have a similar problem, getting luke warm water, about 2 sink fulls then cold. how does the boiler know when off peak is? Do i need to set off peak somehow on the timer?
