I have removed 2 1930s heavy wooden shutters (2.5' x 1.5'). They are non-functional/ornamental and were previously fixed between bricks via 4 wooden wedges (each shutter). I have since removed the wedges and now wish to re-attach the shutters to the front of my house using 4 (or 6) appropriate fixings for each shutter into brick.
I have looked at using carriage bolts with a washer (suitable size and length with plastic plugs), as the best fixing, but have also seen a 'Hammer-fix' option, which may also do the job, but which doesn't allow the use of a washer to further hold the front of the shutters. They're heavy shutters and I don't want them to come down, hence my request for advice.
Any thoughts/opinions gratefully received.
Many thanks.
