Help! BAS?

Well a cable in USA = 120 Fathoms but the British Admiralty consider is as 100 Fathoms and the string runs up the centre or the cable so between 600 and 720 feet long.

Nobody knows how long that is.

What is known though is that any piece cut from it will be the wrong size in at least one of its 11 dimensions, no matter how many times you measure first.

Unroll it. Fold it in half. Measure it. Double your measurement. That's how long it is.

It's like counting sheep: Count the legs and divide it by four.

But what if you decide to roast one of them?

Is that food-grade string? If you want a boned leg could you use it for tying the meat up? How will you join the string when you find it's too short to truss the joint properly - JB, crimp or fisherman's knot?

It's all coming together.

sadly no prize... i just thought i'd give another problem, with not quite the right amount of info.

What exactly is the point of this topic?

Just to waste everyones time I presume?

Sorry to offend RF.

The point of the topic was born out of passive frustration. I.e. I browse this forum regularly incase I can offer further advice, as a sparkie.
However - i feel very frustrated for you, BAS, coljack et al who tirelessly eek out the information from enthusiastic posters who can rarely provide all the relevant information.

E.g. I have some cable, can i wire up my light in the fuse box now?

THe topic that really scared me was our lady friend from Aberdeen, although she was not direcdtly guilty of the crime, it made me terrified of the results of DIY.

My post was merely a bit of fun in this vein. the picture was excessive.... but maybe a little useful shorthand for future topics. Maybe my warped sense of humour is too dry sometimes. Or just not funny. I accept that too.

No need to apologise. I think your post was rhetorical enough not to require an answer. It's us who should apologise for replying. (That includes you RF!)
