Neighbour has mr11 halogen 35w lights wants to convert them to led (keeping same fitting) 240v getting
rid of the transformer. (I know how to do it with mr16 but am not sure about mr11.
1.will they need gu10 lamp holder if so then is there smaller led bulb to fit the fitting?
Just wanted to know what holder and what bulb they need.
Thanking in advance

MR11 and MR16 refer to the type and size of the reflector - the glass bit.

So, you need a 11/8 inch (1⅜" - 35mm.) GU10 LED.

You won't fit a GU10 lamp in place of a GU4 (MR11) the size difference is massive.

The only ways to do it are

- Find MR11/GU4 lamps that are LED and 12v
- Replace the fittings

This is probably the way to go

Though rare, you can get MR11 size Gu10 lamps in halogen easy enough.
Though led may be a struggle to get good quality.
As above converting to bigger fittings if possible may be best

And how do you/your neighbour know that the light fitting will be safe when operated at 20x the voltage they were designed for, and how will you/your neighbour safely earth them when they were never designed to be used on anything except a separated supply?
