Help! Dishwasher not working!

I stupidly put some washing up liquid into the dishwasher at the weekend. It totally foamed up and now its not working properly. It runs non stop and the water isn't heating up or properly draining away.
Can anyone offer any advice? Any help would be much appreciated!
Dishwasher is a Hotpoint First Edition DF53.
