I have aquired a nice piece of granite to use as a vanity top in my bathroom. I now need to drill two holes in it, one for my basin tap and the other for the basin waste....... HOW DO I DO THIS?

Should I get a professional in to do this? if so where would I find this person and roughly what cost for this

Can I do this myself? if so what tools do I need?

Thanks

Diamond core drills of the right diameter, keep well lubricated with water, and drill carefully.

Wotan

for just one or two holes b&q range of core cutters their cheap and do the job.
cut a template in a bit of batten and clamp it firmly it will help the bit not to slide across the worktop and helps to hold the water to keep the bit cool

try, i think drills365.com - or similar

corking solution for drilling holes... water, a bit more water oh and some more water !

A good excuse for playing with some Plasticine too - pinch some from the kids and use it to form a wall around the hole you are drilling to funnel water in, and keep it where you want it.

probably a bad idea, you want to wash the cuttings / dust away, not keep it round the bit..

plus the water would heat up if just pooled there.. running water much better..
