I have moved into a house with a really nice deck, but one of the boards has rotted and broken. The previous owner has told me that they came from Lawsons about five years ago, but I have been there and asked and they don't sell this pattern any more. I realise that it's possible that I won't get an exact match, so I'm looking for something as close as possiible.

It's 25mm thick. Any help appreciated.

The priority is to find a board with the same width and thickness. After that, it would be nice to find a board that also has the same profile (i.e. same number and width of grooves), or as similar as possible. For example, Wickes sell this:

http://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Treated-Pine-Garden-Deck-Board-4-8m/p/209373

which is the same width (140mm) but not quite the same thickness (28mm) and has six grooves where mine has eight.

B&Q sell this:

http://www.diy.com/nav/garden/fenci...ed-Deck-Board-L-4800-x-W-144-x-T-28mm-9276125

which is 144mm wide, 28mm thick, and seven grooves.

Homebase sell this:

http://www.homebase.co.uk/en/homebaseuk/value-deck-board-014133

which is 120mm wide, 19mm thick, and seven grooves.

Other suggestions appreciated.

Why not just get the thinner one with 7 grooves (your board has 8, will it really be that noticeable, are you that OCD?).

You can pack out the height difference.

Its not an uncommon problem, you either pay silly money to get decking made to match or you use the best match you can find. I wouldn't limit my search to the DIY sheds though.

Thank you both.

AronSearle, assuming you are suggesting the one from Homebase, it's 20mm too narrow.

freddymercurystwin, where can I get decking made to match? How much is silly money? Where else should I look other than the DIY sheds, please?

A timber merchant with machining service would be able to do it. Can't answer specifically on cost but it won't be cheap.

Look on Yell or online for local merchants like Travis Perkins or Jewsons or independent timber merchants.

As has been said, try searching the net and look for local suppliers.

There are big internet suppliers such as the ones in the link below (Only as an example - I am not recommending them) May be worth sending an e-mail with a pic to see if they stock identical ones.

Alternatively, dependant on your DIY skills and tools , you could buy treated timber of the correct size and then use a router and bit to make the grooves. A bit of work but if you are determined to have precisely the same board then it may be the only alternative if you cannot find a match online.

I don't know what the layout of your decking is but you could remove a length from the part of the decking which is 'hidden' (i.e. furthest from the eye and not as noticeable) then put a very similar piece in that position and put the removed deckboard into where the rotten one was situated.

Me neither - just felt that it might be relevant to the OP.

I have no view of the company as I've never used them
