I am deeply 'stuck' , I had my boiler moved from my kitchen to my loft a month ago, it is a standard boiler (not combi), and it has been turned into a fully sealed system with a red expansion vessel sitting about it, since it's fitting, i have constantly had to keep topping up the vessel to keep it at 1 bar, but then a week later it has lost about a half a bar pressure, but i can find no leaks on any of the radiators or valves. My big fear is that one or more of the new soldered joints under my new floor are leaking ? Can any body help ? Are there any other ways in which this system would loose pressure but not have a leak ? Thank you in advance.

Can any body help?

Yes, the people who did the changes. Ask them to sort it out, and if if they argue, suggest court might be a good place to discuss the money side. Small claims court is fairly cheap.

Is it leaking from the pressure relief/blow off pipe??

If so it may be a punctured expansion vessel and no need to worry about that new floor

Hi,

I did have a small leak from the air valves that were put on it, but these have now been sealed, but the strange thing is, when i went on holiday for about a week (and the system did not get switched on of course), the pressure did not drop at all ! It only seems to happen when it's working ?

Everything gets bigger when it heats up - including any gaps! Rad valves are the most common leaks, often round the central spindle under the cap.

Very helpful, i will check them very well, i am not keen on ripping my new chipboard floor up to check the solder joints and as yet have not found anybody who has had problems with them. I will investigate and again thanks for the advice.

Sorted (Fingers crossed),

After further investigation.... with my flat hand on all available joints and connectors.... i found these 2 screw threads top and bottom of my pump which had these ''slits'' on them.... all wet ! Have drained the system and my plumber is about to replace them.
