HELP GALAXY SAT NAV SCREEN GONE/

PLEASE CAN ANYONE GIVE ME ADVICE ON THE BUILT IN SAT NAV ON A 02 PLATE GALAXY.
EVERYTHING IS WORKING FINE BUT THE SCREEN HAS GONE BLACK SO CARNT SEE WHAT I AM DOING.
DOES IT HAVE A BULB OR SOMETHING IN IT OF IS IT GOING TO HAVE TO BE REPLACED.
IF THE LATTER ANYONE KNOW THE CHEAPEST TO DO THIS,,,

STOP SHOUTING FFS

If you shine a torch on the screen (when its dark), can you see the outline of what should be displayed? If so, the cold cathode tube has had it. Easy enough on most LCD screens, but not sure how much it will cost you. If you cannot see anything at all on the screen, you need a new screen, or a connection may have worked loose at the back.

right i can see the display on my screen just, so must be what you said. any idea how i can replace the cathode tube is it a diy job if so how???? or what pro's will be able to fix it????

by the way took it to ford today and they charged me £25 +vat for them to say they carn't fix it i need a full new unit at £1900+vat so you can imagine what i said ***** robbing *******s so if you have any idea that will be brill. thanx mandy

Thats daylight robbery at its very best. Try a specialist in car entertainment guy, they might be able to help. I wouldn't try fixing it yourself.

If you're unlucky, It will be all one unit with the brains attached to the screen etc, so it all needs replacing.

If you're lucky, as i said, just the CCT can be changed. I'm not up on the technicalities of it though, and would guess its not a DIY job.

If you have a LCD monitor, look at the back of it, you should be able to see white light - this is the CCT(s) shining at the screen. They do wear out, but it is unusual/rare. It could be a loose connection, given the age of yours.

hi thanx for that i will try a ice place tomorrow,
i think it may be a wire or something coz it has come on more visable today, and flickers, don't get me wrong it isn't bright but i can see it now without shinning a torch on it now so, fingers crossed it's a wire,
ford charged me £25+vat to tell me what i already bloody knew robbing gits.
i have also got the number for blauplunkt i will give them a buzz tomorrow to see if they can shine any light on it. excuse the pun!!!!
