After many hours of searching, myself, my partner and a plumber still have not located my stopcock, not only that but we cannot locate where the mains water supply enters my property!

The external stopcock on the pavement outside of my boundry is broken, and according to Bristol Water, it is not a high priority and therefore cannot give me a date when it will be fixed.

I am currently waiting for my new kitchen to be installed, but cannot do this until I have located the said stopcock (or at the very least where the water enters the property)

Any ideas anyone???

Freezing kit. Bout £20. Just stick a stop cock on and work from that.

Hello,

I would insist that the water board fix your outside stop tap.
I would tell them you have a leak near a socket and you have been advised that it is dangerous but you cannot fix it till the water is isolated.
They'll send someone down as they'll want to cover their backsides when the word dangerous is mentioned...

I know it's a lie but this is what deregulation has brought.....
The consumer is always last on the list, time to play them at their own game....

Freezing a pipe is not the easiest of things to do either....

whys that then. never had any problems yet with my freezemaster on a pipe. once frozen holds for hours.

you may be good at it but I've heard stories of people getting wet during the procedure when they though the pipe was frozen solid...or ice bits shooting up pipes, breaking the pipes and embedding into a stud wall....

Also what happens if water is flowing? You cannot freeze with running water.

As a consumer I'd rather get the water board off their lazy ..... and get them to fit a proper boundary stop tap.
I mean if you request a meter they'll put one straight away, why not do so for a consumer that has plumbing issues in her house?

Remove kick boards to kitchen units and look there, failing that pull back any carpets to front of property and look for little trap doors, trace any pipework coming down walls and boxed in at floor level.

Ask your neighbours where theirs is located. ;)
