Help identifying roof covering

Hi, can anyone please help and identify what the shingles/tiles on our roof are? They have a gritty texture to them but they are also 60 years old so I don't know if that's due to age. Thanks!

Possibly asbestos but others here will say for sure

Yes they go to 60s , then became not on trend .
They are concrete , just called slate .
They do tend to break up as they get older .

That is what you have on your roof for sure

Brilliant, thank you. It was the substance that was stumping us as they are quite thick and then with the texture too we just couldn't figure what they were. You've been a great help! :)(y)
