I've been in my rented flat for nearly a decade without an issue, but recently mould has started on the grout just above the sealant join with the bath! I don't understand: I spend a fortune on the electricity for the bathroom extractor, on a portable humidifier. I wash and rinse the tiles after every shower and dry down with a microfibre towel. But now this problem has appeared! Is there a remedy that won't mean getting the letting agent involved (I have to use their subcontracted tradesmen for anything diy-ish)?

Cilit Bang! really does work: spray it on, listen to Fantasia Impromptu then scrub away using a toothbrush for those fiddly, hard-to-reach corners, as per your pic.(y)

Ive tried several of these mould cleaners without success. What I now do is scrub neat bleach onto the grouting using an old toothbrush. I leave it for 24 hours before rinsing off. I find that works very well.

Skill Builder dropped a good tip of embedding some folded up kitchen paper along the edge and soaking it with bleach/cillit whatever so as to ensure the cleaner stayed in contact with the vertical grout for 24hrs.

Though I think at some point bleach/cleaners just aren't effective any more. They're not 100% effective.

On that fourth pic, it's difficult to tell but it kind of looks like the silicone is barely there, might be time the landlord re-did the silicone anyway.

I wouldn't use bleach because of the lingering odour, then again, i'm not keen on the smell of C.Bang!, either - no wonder they advise opening a window.

No you don't

A typical modern extractor runs for 100 hours or more on one unit of electricity, costing about 25p

There is no silicone over the grout.
It's always a difficult spot to get correct.

Tiny amount , what’s the concern ?
Squirt of mould magic removes without any scrubbing.
