Hi all, hoping you can help.
I've tried to change my single light switch to a dimmer switch. It looked so simple but I'm clearly doing something wrong as I've tried twice and it doesn't work!

My old switch just has two ports (top and bottom) There's a black wire that's capped, an earth wire and 2 red wires. (1 of the red wires had an extra bit of red casing on it.)

I believe I've followed the instructions but must be missing something?
I've tried changing which red wire goes in Com and L1 on the new dimmer switch- still didn't work!

Am I meant to be doing something with the black wire?!

Well, you're not very good at counting but I think you have wired it correctly - as long as you haven't put the red sleeve on another wire.

Is your light suitable for the switch? That is more than 60VA (Watts).

Haha!
Aah, yes my dodgy counting!

This is the lightbulb I bought

You need a switch that works from Zero Watts (or VA) to over 6 - it will be much more than that.

VARILIGHT V-PRO are usually recommended for dimming LEDs and work from 0W
Have one running some downlights

Link is for white but other finishes available from Screwfix and elsewhere
