Hi
I am very new to this forum. Please bear with me.
2 years ago we had our garden almost rebuilt. We chose to have the walls rendered, then painted with masonry textured paint (we used a sealer first). Again, same as this time last year, the paint is peeling off. I was out there yesterday scaping the loose off and there seemed to be loads of sand coming off too.
We had this done professionally, so it wasn't a cowboy job. Someone said if the sand is coming off so much that it could have been applied using the wrong mix!
I have been in touch with the builder, but he says he did it properly!!!
Can anyone help??

Is the wall a retainer ? In other woords is the earth banked up behind it ?

If it is and no barrier was put behind (visqueen or whatever else your builder chose) then the damp from the earth will be penetrating it causing the paint to peel.

Lime based, breathable spray on wall coating.... if you find youtube there are a few such examples from the likes of kkhhoona
Hope this helps.
